About Us

History

Prior to the establishment of the Mid-Shore Pancreatic Cancer Foundation Inc. in November 2013, a group of concerned individuals conducted Third-Party Fundraising Events for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to the fight against pancreatic cancer.  The group held Gospel Concerts in 2011 and 2012 and a larger Gospel Festival in 2013. The proceeds from these events went to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Foundation Activities

As a natural evolution of our efforts to fight pancreatic cancer, the group has established the Mid-Shore Pancreatic Cancer Foundation to expand our work in the community.  Our plans include:

  • Continuing the Annual Gospel Festival with the proceeds benefiting the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Inc.
  • Fundraising events to raise funds for the Mid-Shore Pancreatic Cancer Foundation Inc.
  • Solicitation of donations from individuals and organizations to be used in the fight against pancreatic cancer

Programs

  • Community Outreach Programs:  Participation in events or sponsoring events that help raise awareness about pancreatic cancer in the community.
  • Patient Support:  Helping patients and families of patients in this area diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  This could include providing information about where to find assistance, financial support, and transportation to and from treatments.
  • Funding Research:  This could be through other organizations, such as the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or directly through grants.

Donations

For the period 2013 through 2023, the MSPCF, Inc has donated a $17,000 designated toward research:

  • $10,500 to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PCAN) pancan.org
  • $ 4,000 to The Lustgarten Foundation (lustgarten.org)
  • $ 2,500 to Johns Hopkins University (jhu.edu/research)

For this same period, 31 individuals have received grants totaling $7,970 for medications, automobile repairs, transportation expenses, companion care, help with utility bills and personal items.

We have also donated $1,500 to other non-profits that support cancer fundraising and awareness activities.
